Economic Growth
Economic growth in Fairfield is essential for maintaining a vibrant, thriving community. Here are key strategies and reasons why fostering economic growth should be a priority:
- Supporting Local Businesses:
- Small Business Development: Encourage the growth of small businesses by offering resources, grants, and streamlined permitting processes. Small businesses are the backbone of Fairfield’s economy, providing jobs and unique services that cater to residents’ needs.
- Buy Local Initiatives: Promote “Buy Local” campaigns to encourage residents to support Fairfield businesses. This keeps money within the community, boosting the local economy.
- Attracting New Businesses:
- Business-Friendly Environment: Create a welcoming atmosphere for new businesses through competitive tax incentives, modern infrastructure, and a supportive regulatory framework. By attracting diverse industries, Fairfield can broaden its economic base and reduce dependency on any single sector and help reduce tax burden on our residents.
- Strategic Marketing: Market Fairfield’s unique qualities—such as its location, skilled workforce, and quality of life—to attract businesses that align with the town’s values and goals.
- Investing in Infrastructure:
- Modernizing Infrastructure: Invest in roads, utilities, and broadband access to support current and future business needs. Improved infrastructure makes Fairfield more attractive to businesses looking to relocate or expand.
- Sustainable Development: Promote growth that balances economic development with environmental responsibility, ensuring long-term sustainability.
- Revitalizing Downtown and Commercial Areas:
- Downtown Development: Revitalize downtown Fairfield by supporting mixed-use developments that combine retail, dining, and residential spaces. A vibrant downtown attracts visitors, businesses, and residents, fostering a sense of community and economic growth.
- Commercial Space Optimization: Ensure that commercial spaces are utilized effectively, offering incentives for the development of underutilized areas and the renovation of older properties.
- Promoting Tourism:
- Cultural and Recreational Attractions: Leverage Fairfield’s historical and natural attractions to draw tourists. Increased tourism supports local businesses and generates additional revenue for the town.
- Events and Festivals: Organize and promote events that attract visitors from surrounding areas, showcasing Fairfield as a lively and welcoming community.
By focusing on these strategies, Fairfield can create a dynamic economy that supports local businesses, attracts new investments, and improves the quality of life for all residents. Economic growth will ensure that Fairfield remains a prosperous and desirable place to live, work, and visit.
Outdoor enthusiast destination
As an outdoor enthusiast, and a volunteer for local clubs, I understand that our Town is in prime location to capitalize on the Kennebec Valley Rail Trail. The opportunity for economic growth is promising if done right.

Beginning in Oakland, and with access from the Central Maine ATV Clubs already established multi-use trail system, we have a golden opportunity to help make this area the NEW gateway to the north. Being able to spend the day outside on local trails systems will bring business and tourism dollars into our area.
